General Questions
3 questionsNon-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) is transportation provided to individuals who need help getting to and from medical appointments but do not require emergency services or an ambulance.
NEMT is for patients who are medically stable but may have mobility challenges, lack access to a vehicle, or are unable to drive themselves. Common users include dialysis patients, cancer patients, elderly individuals, and patients with disabilities.
We serve 11 counties across Eastern North Carolina: Pitt, Beaufort, Craven, Edgecombe, Greene, Lenoir, Martin, Pamlico, Washington, Wilson, and Wayne counties.
If you're not sure whether we serve your area, call us at (252) 227-0097. Our service area is growing, so don't assume we can't help.
An ambulance is for medical emergencies where a patient needs immediate clinical care during transport. If you're having a heart attack, stroke, or severe injury, call 911.
NEMT (like Waypoint) is for patients who are medically stable and need transportation to planned appointments — dialysis, chemotherapy, specialist visits, etc. NEMT is far less expensive than an ambulance and appropriate for the vast majority of medical trips.

Absolutely. We specialize in recurring transport for dialysis, chemotherapy, physical therapy, and other regular appointments. Once you're set up on a standing schedule, your rides are automatically confirmed and you'll receive a reminder the day before each trip.
This is our most popular option for dialysis patients who need transport multiple times per week.
Call or text us at (252) 227-0097 as early as possible. We ask for at least 2 hours notice when possible so we can reassign drivers efficiently.
We understand that medical situations change — if you need to cancel last-minute due to a health issue, please just let us know and we'll work with you.
